Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field (e.g. Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Education, etc.)
- 1-2 years of relevant experience working with instructional design and instructional technology-related projects
- Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and pedagogical strategies
- Experience with developing measures for evaluating the impact of course design (e.g., professional development courses)
- Experience with creating instructional material for professional development courses
- Experience consulting with instructors and/or subject matter experts in analyzing course design and identifying areas of improvement
- Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Moodle
- Ability to work independently or in teams, collaborate with others, lead projects, and provide excellent support service to constituents and stakeholders (e.g., faculty, staff)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with applying Quality Matters rubric (or similar rubric, e.g., OSCQR)
- Experience with content authoring tools such as Camtasia and Articulate Storyline or Rise
- Experience with synchronous tools such as Zoom and Google Workspace
- Familiarity with Microcredentials or Digital Badges
- Familiarity with Open Educational Resources

What you'll do on a typical day
The Office of Learning Design seeks to hire a full-time instructional designer. The Instructional Designer supports student success through working with faculty in course design consultation, guided implementation of new teaching strategies and assessment methods, and supporting the use of technology to enhance learning. This position reports directly to the Director of Learning Design. The Instructional Designer has the following responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, administer, and facilitate group and one-on-one professional development activities for faculty with regard to various instructional technology and design topics such as andragogical best practices, course design, learning theory, effective use of instructional technology tools, high impact practices, accessibility, and compliance requirements
- Serve as a consultant to faculty with regard to course design, development of program and course level assessments, and assessment methods and tools to achieve student learning outcomes
- Through consultation with faculty, design and develop digital media assets to enhance instruction and support the attainment of student learning outcomes.
- Remain proficient in the use of digital media tools and software
- Participate in the implementation and continual assessment/improvement of the course quality assurance process led by the Director of Learning Design
- Provide frontline user support to faculty and troubleshooting for learning management systems and other instructional systems
- Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings.
- Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.
- This is a fully remote position.
