Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience working with instructional design
  • Previous experience with a Learning Management System (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Five years of experience providing instructional design.
  • Previous experience working with faculty members at a post-secondary institution.
  • Teaching or training experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience in conducting webinars and online demonstrations.
  • Previous experience supporting or teaching in a web conferencing classroom.
  • Experience with Lecture Capture (Mediasite), Exam Creation (Respondus), Plagiarism (Turnitin and SafeAssign), Student Information System (Colleague), Web Conferencing (Collaborate and Zoom), Accessibility (Ally), and Analytics/Reporting (Intelliboard).
  • Previous work experience in an educational institution and teaching online.
  • Experience providing instructional design, specifically online classroom development.
  • Proficiency in creating instructional products that incorporate audio and video.
  • Experience in creating accessible online classrooms.
  • Experience in both universal and responsive design.

Position Description

FLSA:  Professional - Exempt

The role of the Instructional Developer is to provide technical support for instructional technologies and collaborate with faculty and staff members through creation, design and redesign of our online instructional presence both in our Learning Management System and college website.
 

The Instructional Developer receives supervision from the Director, Distance Education Programs.

 

 Examples of Duties:

  • Work collaboratively with subject-matter experts (faculty members from all subject areas) creating engaging online and hybrid courses that reflect online course standards. 
  • Work in conjunction with others in Distance Education Programs, along with Academic Deans, Department Chairs, and Accessibility Services to ensure that all students have immediate access to our instructional resources.  
  • Research and test the latest instructional tools and approaches and create training sessions (face-to-face and online) for faculty members that focus on various technologies, instructional design, and pedagogical best practices.  
  • Support faculty and staff in the implementation and infusion of new teaching technologies and strategies.  
  • Assist with various Help Desk support requests. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
