Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in sociology or a master’s degree in a related discipline with 18 graduate hours with a SOC prefix.
Experience in engaging and innovative online and seated instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate is creative, exhibits a positive attitude, has experience with a diverse population of students, and embraces innovation. Additionally, this individual has experience: teaching distance education/online courses at post-secondary level; experience with Blackboard LMS following the Exemplary Course Rubric; and familiarity with Web Advisor/Self-Service.
Highly preferred: Familiarity of open-source textbooks and resources; ability to teach across multiple disciplines in Social & Behavioral Sciences (HIS, POL, PSY, SOC, and/or SPA).
Position Description
BCCC is inviting creative, professional candidates to apply for a seated and online, part-time (adjunct) Sociology teaching position. The selected candidate may teach up to 4 courses each semester. The selected candidate will provide high quality, engaging seated and online instruction in Blackboard using free (open source) or low-cost materials in any or all of the following courses: Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of the Family, Social Problems, and Social Diversity.
Work collaboratively with Social Science faculty; weekly attendance reporting (Web Advisor); develop and report Student Learning Outcomes to lead Sociology Instructor; have an eye for detail; and the ability work with little supervision.
