Position Description
Central Piedmont’s Parr Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence is responsible for the holistic development of Central Piedmont faculty and teaching staff in the areas of pedagogical content knowledge, feedback and assessment, inclusive pedagogy, curriculum alignment, classroom climate, instructional strategies, and faculty engagement. We also share the college’s values and strategic goals to support faculty in serving as champions of students, catalysts for opportunity, and exceptional providers of learning experiences.
General Function
This position provides leadership for the Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence (CTLE), which supports full-time and adjunct faculty in collaborative professional learning and growth to support Central Piedmont students in achieving their goals. The CTLE’s programming and services are designed to support faculty teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments.
The Director will oversee the work of professional staff members, including instructional designers, and online learning staff who will be focused on innovative approaches to teaching and learning, instructional design, and quality learning experiences. They will maintain constant awareness of trends in teaching and learning, adult learning theory, best practices in faculty professional development and learning, instructional design and instructional technology.
This position is responsible for supporting the Center’s strategic planning, in partnership with the Associate Vice President of Organizational Learning and Development, providing coordination and oversight of face-to-face and online programming to support 24/7 faculty training and development. The Director will work to develop strong relationships between the CTLE professional staff and Faculty Fellows, in the interest of providing the strongest possible outcomes for Central Piedmont faculty.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the design and development of face-to-face and online programming and resources that support full-time and adjunct faculty performance.
2. Develops assessment reports reflective of learning outcomes and collaborates with professional staff and CTLE faculty leaders to make improvements based on this assessment.
3. Builds relationships with full-time and adjunct faculty across the college and creates mechanisms to assess their needs and interests related to faculty professional learning. Leverages these relationships to develop a cadre of faculty facilitators who will serve as presenters and facilitators for CTLE programs.
4. Directs and coordinates the activities of the CTLE staff; implements strategies to ensure quality online, hybrid, and blended programming.
5. Leads the development of online learning strategies that are aligned with the mission and vision of the College; develops a successful model for online and technology enabled learning environments.
6. Builds consensus across diverse stakeholder groups – faculty, student affairs, information technology services, marketing, and finance – setting a strategic direction for the CTLE.
7. Makes presentations to internal and external audiences.
8. Other duties as assigned.
