Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, counseling, human services, or related field
- Experience working with individuals from low-income and/or at-risk populations; experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency using computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Combination of relevant experience, education, knowledge, and skills may be considered by McDowell Tech administrators to justify full qualifications

Position Description
General Responsibilities:
The Title III Success Coach & Accessibility Support Specialist enhances the student experience by assisting students through the onboard and enrollment processes and by providing academic and personal support to enrolled students. As part of the Student Success Team, the Title III Success Coach & Accessibility Support Specialist works collaboratively and creatively with other Success Coaches, the Director for Student Success, Faculty Advisors, and students to meet institutional and Title III project objectives. As Accessibility Support Specialist, this individual works under the direction of the Dean of Students ensuring students with disabilities have access to the services and support they need to be successful students at McDowell Tech and maintaining records of both students’ needs and services provided to document compliance with applicable law and regulations.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Dean of Students, provides academic and personal support to students with disabilities in compliance with Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and with other federal and state regulations, including:
a. reviewing documentation of disability, including psychological, medical, academic and educational assessment
b. recommending reasonable accommodation for students with documented disability
c. engaging faculty and staff members and coordinating services and equipment to provide accommodation
d. referring students to social services agencies as appropriate
e. maintaining records of documentation and services provided - Assists new students through the onboard process, including career interest exploration, major selection, course registration, and orientation to the college
- Provides proactive and intrusive academic and personal support to a case load of students in collaboration with instructors and faculty advisors, particularly to at-risk students identified using student data and retention software
- Plans and conducts student retention activities across the college campus to promote a positive and successful learning experience for traditional and adult students (and as needed, dual-enrolled students)
- Assists with college recruitment presentations and other recruitment activities
- Works collaboratively as part of a high-functioning team of to achieve institutional and Title III project objectives
- Maintains records of activities conducted with students and services provided to students using student retention software adopted by the college
- Other duties as assigned
