Position Description
Serve as the Coordinator of Work-Based Learning for Work-Based Learning CE and CU, advise WBL students, stay current with curriculum changes, assist faculty with advisement issues, and assist with recruitment and retention initiatives. This position is funded by a multi-year grant from the US Department of Energy and is subject to the availability of funds. This position requires day, evening, and occasional weekend hours and travel.
1. Work-Based Learning
- Serve as the coordinator of the College’s Work-Based Learning (WBL) for CE and CU, with emphasis on programs related to the US Department of Energy grant program.
- Assist Continuing Education and Academic Affairs to ensure the student is matched to an appropriate work-based learning opportunity related to their program of study; monitor the internship providing support and guidance to the student, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Provide orientation for WBL-enrolled students.
- Assist Continuing Education and Academic Affairs in the promotion of Work-Based Learning opportunities.
- Create and maintain relationships with the community to support WBL opportunities.
- Maintain student files, in compliance with WBL (Section 20) Curriculum Procedures Reference Manual and 1D SBCCC 300.10.
- Verify time spent by students in WBL (per timesheets).
- Visit the work site at least once per term.
- Evaluate the student’s performance in the course and post the appropriate grade.
- Facilitate support services as needed.
- Create and maintain a database of employers for WBL experiences.
- Create and maintain a database of students who were assisted with WBL or job placement.
2. Assist with the registration process of CE to CU courses.
3. Assist Continuing Education and Academic Affairs with activities and events, including but not limited to, Taste of Industry, Making it Work, job fairs, recruitment, registration, auditing, etc.
4. Assist with grant-related reporting requirements.
5. Participate in professional and staff development opportunities.
6. Actively participate in Continuing Education planning, evaluation, and program review.
7. Serve on committees as required.
8. Perform other duties as assigned and other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
