Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a business or industrial related field. 
  • 5 years of experience working in business or industry
  • Proficient in MS Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or industry related field
  • One year of supervisory experience

Position Description

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Coordinator of Workforce Development will manage training and apprenticeship activities at Haywood Community College. The position will assist the businesses and industries in Haywood County by providing information about training opportunities at the college through Occupational Extension or Customized Training.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for coordinating all elements of state-funded Customized Training Program activities including budgeting responsibilities. 
  • Responsible for all elements of apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships. 
  • Responsible for the Human Resource Development (HRD) Training Program
  • Oversee other Occupational Extension classes for Business and Industry. 
  • Hire and orient part time instructors for assigned programs of responsibility. 
  • Represent Haywood Community College by participating in fairs and expos, and speaking to area civic and business groups.
  • Be aware of current workplace and/or industry trends and/or needs in order to implement training solutions for businesses.
  • Be informed and updated on the requirements for a wide variety of professions within Business and Industry.
  • Coordinate with professional accrediting boards for approvals and recognition of CEUs and PDHs provided by the college.
  • Collect and submit registration forms, registration fees, class rosters, attendance sheets and employee contracts for programs of responsibility.
  • Comply with all record auditing procedures.
  • Travel locally and statewide as required Attend meetings, conferences, and other sessions related to essential functions.

  • Work toward operational excellence; continuous improvement of processes and seek help from advisory committees
  • Implement innovative strategies to meet the needs of students and improve processes
  • Interact with co-workers and perform tasks with the highest level of integrity
  • Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, and our learning community
  • Promote and support HCC’s mission, vision, and values and promote and support coworkers in the most positive manner.
  • Other duties as assigned
