Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree and a valid North Carolina driver’s license required. At least one year of paid work experience in a non-profit, government, or higher education setting is required. Strong candidates will have experience and expertise in food security or health equity; experience working with community college students in student services, student affairs, or student development capacities as an advisor, coach, mentor, or advocate; or past experiences in social services, social work, counseling, or case management roles.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.

Essential Functions
The Coordinator supports student success by working collaboratively to provide food security programming and supports that promote dignity and community, educate and lead action to address systemic causes of food insecurity, and empower students to focus on their academic, professional, and personal goals through holistic and comprehensive support and non-clinical case management.
Job Duties
1. Food Pantry Programming and Management
A. Lead the daily operations of the food pantry, including participant intake; biweekly stock ordering, procurement, and management; work-study duties; volunteer oversight; food handling safety management; data management; required monthly reporting; and health equity and food security co-curricular programming.
B. Develop and maintain sources of free, reduced-cost, or bulk pantry stock through strategic partnerships and maintain positive relationships with community-based organizations and key partners serving both Durham and Orange Counties.
C. Coordinate multiple SNAP/food stamp screenings each semester and coordinate events with other college resources/employees who support students with applications for the benefits.
D. Plan and track expenditures, monitor budgets, and record cash and in-kind donations in a tracking spreadsheet, compose thank you notes to donors, and coordinate with the Business Office and Durham Tech Foundation regarding budgets for the food pantry.
E. Collaborate with student leaders, student government, other student groups, and employees to organize food drives.
F. Utilize the student information systems and databases to record pantry participant data, create reports, and respond to referrals.
G. Monitor and analyze pantry use data and share this information in reports, grant applications, and presentations to supervisor and college leadership. Coordinate required data collection to assess the effectiveness and program improvements and assist with reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
2. Student Advocacy and Resource Support
A. Respond to Student Support Requests, wellness calls, repeated pantry use, or individual student inquiries by providing student-focused, comprehensive, holistic support through an affirming, relational approach. Collaborate with other resources and departments to ensure students’ needs and support are provided.
B. Connect students to a network of college and community resources and help initiate contact, complete forms, or navigate application or access barriers.
C. Provide case management to students needing additional or continued support and advocacy.
D. In collaboration with the Student Services Division and other employees who center support services on student wellness, attend relevant training and professional development training to increase knowledge and expand the network of contacts in the community and provide presentations to the campus about resources for students.
3. Communication and Program Support
A. Ensure webpages on Durham Tech’s website are regularly updated, accurate and appearing on Durham Tech’s webmaster.
B. Maintain the bulletin board in the Phillips building with monthly updates and resources for stakeholders.
C. Represent Durham Tech at area community engagement conferences and meetings.
D. Direct student work-study’s daily tasks and priorities.
4. Community Partnerships
A. Serve as the main contact for all non-curriculum activities, including being the primary contact for external community partnerships.
B. Serve on the Advisory Committee of the Briggs Avenue Community Garden, attend plot owner meetings as needed, and lead garden workdays for volunteers.
C. Work with the Coordinator of Student Enrichment to develop new community partnerships aligned with the mission and goals of Durham Technical Community College and its community partners, including exploring the creation and implementation of educational components that utilize Durham Tech’s faculty and student expertise.
D. Additional duties shall include other appropriate activities as assigned by the Director, Dean, the Vice President, and/or the President.

- Regularly moves around the office and pantry to stock shelves, process donations, and access office files and supplies.
- Remains stationary for 50 percent of the time.
- Occasionally moves around sites with uneven terrain and is exposed to outdoor weather conditions
- Frequently moves boxes or items of 25 lbs. and moves carts of large donations of 50 lbs. or more across campus and to/from locations
- Regularly drives to pick up pantry stock.
