Associate degree in computer science related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Bachlor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Two-years work experience in university setting
  • Two-years of administrative experience

Position Description

Under the supervisor of the Director of Admissions, Records, Registration and Testing, the Completion and Retention Specialist will work with the Admissions, Records and Registration Department with responsibilities in the areas of records, admissions, and registration and customer service. Participation is required in all training necessary to stay current on software/hardware utilized in the office, along with other duties as assigned. Experience and proficiency in the use of integrated software, along with excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple office duties, are also requirements of this position. This individual must be able to work efficiently despite multiple interruptions.

This is a temporary, full-time position for one year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and communicate regarding student records to identify completed credentials and those near completion.
  • Apply NC State Board code and program requirements to determine credential eligibility.
  • Run the degree audit process in coordination with graduation and retention initiatives.
  • Process course substitution forms and adjust evaluations for completion.
  • Send and track student communication concerning graduation and the awarding of credentials.
  • Build and run Entrinsik Informer reports.
  • Process reverse transfer files to determine transfer credits, enter credits into SIS, and evaluate degree audit for completion.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to implement retention strategies and promote credential completion.
  • Identify processes to track and measure student retention.
  • Maintain records of student academic progress.
  • Identify gaps in services based on best practices in retention and create programs to improve student success. Identify specific cohort groups with targeted interventions.
  • The ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Have excellent Microsoft Office 365 skills and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills as well a willingness to learn new software applications as needed.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and problem solve.
  • Ability to work in a team setting or independently; evidence of self- motivation/self-starter traits.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • All other duties as assigned by Director of Admissions, Records, Registration and Testing.
