Position Description
Description:
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, College Foundation, the Director, Grants facilitates the development, submission, and administration of grant-funded projects that advance the mission of CCC&TI and assists in the implementation of the institution's long- and short-term goals and objectives.
Examples of Duties:
Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate all phases of grant development and submission processes with faculty, staff, administration, and college departments.
- Research, identify, and monitor sources of potential funding, including federal, state, local agencies, the North Carolina Community College System, corporations, private foundations, and public foundations.
- Serve as primary contact for compliance and reporting requirements related to funded grants. Work with project coordinators to ensure compliance requirements and reporting deadlines are met.
- Develop and maintain a library and database of grant sources, guides, and technical information.
- Serve as authorized representative to submit proposals on behalf of the college.
- Maintain registration, subscriptions, and login information for SAM.gov, grants.gov, Foundation Online, etc.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with public and private foundations.
- Collect and disseminate information about funding opportunities to faculty, staff, and community partners on potential grant prospects and the proposal development process.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for internal and external stakeholders that enhance participants’ understanding of grant development and management best practices.
- Serve as the final check-off on all grants originating within the college prior to their approval and submission.
- Actively participate in college planning processes to ensure integration with grant development and implementation activities.
- Compile and maintain a list of identified institutional/program needs to coordinate with available funding sources.
- Maintain thorough documentation of the application, implementation, and close-out status for all college grants.
- Provide regular updates to college leadership about potential, active, and concluding grant-funded projects
Marginal Functions:
1. Assist with the college planning process and other strategic initiatives as needed.
2. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Working Conditions:
Knowledge of:
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations relating to grant-funded projects.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.
- Methods and techniques of report preparation.
- Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment. Mathematical calculations.
- English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. The mission, goals and objectives of CCC&TI.
- Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
- Applicable accepted research practices.
Ability to:
- Maintain confidentiality
- Maintain effective working relationships, both internally and externally Write and submit successful grant proposals
- Prepare clear and concise administrative reports
- Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws, and regulations Communicate clearly and concisely, both oral and written
- Interpret, explain, and enforce departmental policies and procedures related to grant submissions and reporting
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Conduct committee meetings in an effective and efficient manner.
Environmental Conditions:
The employee should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve an office and classroom workspace, working closely with others, and periodically working irregular hours.
The employee must maintain the office and teaching environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Physical Conditions:.
Essential and marginal functions require the ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following; standing, walking or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting and carrying, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment, and extended exposure to computer screens.
The employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others, and handling varied tasks simultaneously.
Additionally, the employee must maintain mental capacity, which permits making sound decisions and using good judgment, answering questions, demonstrating intellectual capabilities, working with numbers, maintaining confidentiality where appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of personnel.
Scheduling Conditions:
This is a full-time, 12-month position, which requires the employee to be on campus or at an approved alternate location for at least thirty-six hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm, and Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm. This position generally works daytime hours, but has the potential for occasional evening or weekend hours.
Travel:
Local travel is required between campus locations. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for conferences or training.
