Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer at least 2 years experience as a licensed cosmetologist.
- Prefer previous classroom teaching experience.
Position Description
An Instructor’s primary responsibility is to maintain excellence in instructing students in his/her curriculum subject with the express goal of attaining certain student learning outcomes. In addition to the primary responsibility, Instructors will be required to complete various classroom administrative duties as well as duties helpful to satisfy the goals and objectives of WCC including committee service and professional development.
This is a part-time adjunct position housed at the Wilkes Campus. This position may require weekend and evening hours. The instructor of cosmetology position includes the following responsibilities and expectations:
- Teach courses in the cosmetology program, including but not limited to basic and advanced hairstyling, salon management, cosmetician science, nail technology, esthetics, instructor training and fashion concepts.
- Model student expectations including effective communication, dependability, critical thinking, positive customer service, and leadership.
- Assist the coordinator with operations of salon retail operations related to the instructional cosmetology lab, including handling payment transactions, making deposits, and managing supplies and products.
- Enforce safety and NC Board of Cosmetic Arts regulations.
- Maintain documentation, including student records.
- Support the college’s commitment to enhancing student learning by increasing student disposition to use critical thinking skills via professional development activities.
