Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Associate degree in a relevant field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in coordinating volunteer and managing logistics in fundraising events

The successful candidate must have the following knowledge and skills:
 

  • A strong, detail-oriented work ethic, with the ability to juggle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment and to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word), budget and database management.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills; ability to amicably accept direction and constructive criticism and to follow up with contacts until the job is completed.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work events as needed. May involve nights and weekend.

Position Description

This is a full-time 12-month position in the Office of Institutional Advancement. The Volunteer and Development Specialist will be responsible for MerleFest and college Volunteer programs, manage the annual fund drive, and coordinate the annual Henry Moore Scholarship Golf Classic. The specialist will report to the MerleFest Director.
 

The Volunteer and Development Specialist will support the mission and vision of the college through behaviors that reflect and integrate the college’s values while maintaining the highest standards for personal integrity and stewardship of resources.
 

Job Duties:

  1. Recruit, manage, and schedule all volunteers. Includes MerleFest individual and civic group volunteers.
  2. Manage additional college volunteers as needed (library, student services, and other events).
  3. Works in conjunction with the Walker Center Director to coordinate volunteers for the school show program and Walker Center season shows.
  4. Manage annual volunteer reception.
  5. Coordinates all aspects of the WCC Foundation annual fund drive. Working with faculty, staff, foundation board of directors, college trustees, and community.
  6. Coordinate all logistics for the WCC Foundation annual Henry Moore Scholarship Golf Classic.
  7. Other related duties, training, and development as assigned by the supervisor.
