Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree in web technologies field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Verifiable language skills, mathematical skills and reasoning ability.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Design. Ability to work successfully in a periodically high-volume environment, handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with little direct supervision.
Position Description
This position is a grant funded position that requires a collaborative approach that applies critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities to support the success of the learning college philosophy and the directives of the North Carolina Community College (NCCCS) Virtual
Learning Community (VLC) Quality and Assessment Center. The NCCCS Quality and Assessment Center Director/ SCC’s Senior VP of Academic and Student Affairs division shall be responsible for the oversight of the Center.
This position will have direct access to confidential information that should not be disclosed directly or indirectly to others for any other purpose than to perform the essential duties of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A. Provide technical support for the development of online content and learning object models for use in online courses for the North Carolina Community College System Virtual Learning Community (VLC) and Surry Community College.
B. Serve as VLC technical editor for course development projects ensuring course completion
following VLC development standards.
C. Coordinate and assist VLC project team in the development and delivery of online and web- enhanced courses.
D. Create course templates for project development.
E. Setup Basecamp project sites, as requested.
F. Create surveys for various VLC projects, as requested.
G. Enter all content provide by subject matter experts into LMSs to create finished courses each year.
H. Maintain LMS user accounts, as requested.
I. Perform LMS server cleanup to ensure LMS is functioning at high capacity.
J. Maintain course and content backups.
K. Ensure all VLC course content in LMSs are WCAG 2.0 AA compliant.
L. Interact with VLC project team members, SCC employees and other staff as needed for project completion.
M. Work closely with both technical and non-technical staff and is required to communicate
effectively with both.
N. Ability to prioritize and schedule work. duties.
0. Meet project deadlines as outlined for each project.
P. Answers and responses to VLC Help Desk calls and logs event details, as requested.
Q. Perform post-resolution and follow-up to VLC Help Desk calls, as needed.
R. Work independently but also collaborate effectively with other team members to complete projects in a timely manner.
S. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
T. Other duties as assigned.
