Minimum Qualifications
Education that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities which may include an Associate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field (significant accounting experience in lieu of an Associate Degree may be considered).
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) – three (3) years of experience in an automated accounting environment is preferred.
Position Description
Under the direction of the Controller, serves as the main cashier and performs technical accounting functions for the Business Office of the College.
Essential Duties
Cashier duties – receipting, balancing and closing cashier sessions and filing daily. Prepares daily DCA report for the North Carolina Community College System. Assists with registration. Assists with student refund process and other financial aid related processes. Processes and invoices third parties for account receivables. Processes sponsor report for Continuing Education. Creates and maintains monthly credit card transaction report. Maintains daily log of state and local refund of expenditures. Runs mail daily and close-out and reporting of mail activity monthly. Assists with preparing Bulk Mailing for Postal Services distribution. Process Maintenance Utilization Reimbursement Report monthly. Prepares utility report monthly. Performs other duties which may include: assisting with daily, monthly, and quarterly reports; serving as back up to other staff (e.g. Bookstore, Mail Courier); and assisting with year-end close out and annual financial audit. Serves on institutional committees as appointed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of PC’s and related software. Accounting principles and practices. Laws, general statutes, rules, and regulations governing community college accounting processes. Automated accounting procedures. Computer systems (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, Colleague, etc.). Financial and accounting support functions. Ability to: Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Operate a PC and related software. Process and complete accounting tasks with accuracy. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, vendors, the general public, and other governmental officials. Compile, evaluate, and reconcile a variety of accounting records and reports.
