Position Description
At Central Carolina Community College, we create transformative lifelong learning opportunities! We expect all employees to find ways to remove barriers to student success and provide all students a pathway to achievable dreams. Our employees are charged to recognize the challenges we face and to respond to them with empathy, understanding, and a willingness to help.
Join the CCCC team as an Instructional Designer and play a crucial role in the innovative Environmental and Natural Resource Technology (EARTh) Center. Funded by the National Science Foundation, and housed at Central Carolina Community College; the mission of the EARTh Center is to collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and environmental educators to develop an integrated approach to technical education that supports a variety of environmental technology sectors throughout the United States.
This on-site position is designed for a forward-thinking professional ready to work in collaboration with a specialized remote extended reality (XR) simulation development team. Your mission will be to lead in the conceptualization, design, and evaluation of immersive XR learning experiences that will set new standards in environmental and natural resource education. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to shape the educational landscape, ensuring that simulations not only meet educational objectives but also engage learners through the power of XR. As the instructional design expert, your guidance will help bridge the gap between technology and pedagogy, fostering an environment where interactive learning thrives. By joining our team, you will become a part of a community that values innovation, education, and the environment; and will have the opportunity to influence the direction of XR simulation education, making it accessible, relevant, and effective for all learners. If you are passionate about instructional design and eager to push the boundaries of educational technology, we look forward to your application.
This position is time-limited. Continuation of position past September 2026 is contingent upon available funding.
