Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree
Two years of classroom teaching experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Adult Basic Education, and/or teaching English abroad
Two years of supervisory experience or experience in a leadership role
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating and coordinating Transition programming in a community college setting
Experience working with diverse populations
One year of grant management or grant oversight experience
Position Description
This position is responsible for the development and support of transitional programming for all College and Career Readiness (CCR) students, oversees CCR classes, and ensures educational services are available for Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) learners.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Registers students and administers placement testing, and coordinates the intake process for new and returning students
*Participates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring part-time and full-time faculty and staff
*Observes, evaluates, supervises and supports annual and part-time instructors at assigned classes, to include the writing of contracts and contract changes and disseminating information to staff
*Works in conjunction with the College's Sponsored Programs Department to ensure required implementation, administration and compliance of the IELCE grant
*Plans, organizes, and provides supplemental instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
*Selects and designs instructional materials aligned with course objectives
Resolves faculty and student concerns
Manages documentation of students and meets all submission deadlines
Develops partnerships between divisions within the College to encourage CCR students to enroll in Continuing Education and Curriculum classes
Inventories student interests, researches and develops career and educational preparation classes and pathways for transition to Continuing Education and Curriculum classes
Presents career and educational pathway information to qualifying students and recruits students to enroll in transitional programs
Collects data and tracks students as they move from CCR programs into Continuing Education and Curriculum to ensure successful transition
Serves as the primary liaison between the College and the NC Community College Systems Office of Accelerating Transitions, managing Basic Skills Plus paperwork and submission deadlines in a timely manner
Plans and delivers professional development training to local and state CCR programs, specifically pertaining to transitioning students into post-secondary education and career training
Represents the CCR division and the College at internal and external functions
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to develop original lesson plans that incorporate contextualized instruction or real-life authentic materials
Ability to be flexible, take changes in stride, and remain calm under pressure
Detail oriented and organized
Demonstrate higher level thinking skills and judgment in order to analyze a situation, trouble shoot problems, make decisions and strategically plan how to meet division and ASE goals
Ability to take initiative and be self- directed, and able to multi-task
Excellent communication skills, including oral and written and listening skills
Ability to analyze data and write reports
Available to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening and weekend hours
