Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education Administration, Human Services, or related field.   
Knowledge and Skills:  
1 year of case management skills working with first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled individuals.
Basic knowledge of community resources including but not limited to childcare resources and facilities.
2 years of Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
Licensing requirement:  None; Early Childhood Education Credentials are preferred

Position Description

Carteret Community College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Childcare Specialist to join our team. The Childcare Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting student parents by enhancing access to childcare services for eligible student parents, as well as assisting facilities in applying for National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation.   This is a permanent/part-time (28 hours per week) grant funded position.
 
Hourly rate of pay is $15 - $18 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for prospective and current student parents in need of childcare services.
  • Provide high-level academic support and counseling for student parents to meet grant objectives and goals.
  • Determine eligibility of services for prospective student parents.
  • work closely with county childcare facilities and programs to enhance services for Carteret Community College students and the CCAMPIS program including but not limited to assisting facilities in applying for National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, partners, and the general public.
  • Identify, develop, and implement programs and activities that will benefit the CCAMPIS program.
  • Administer and track childcare payment vouchers, and childcare attendance hours.
  • Monthly follow-up with students to determine educational progress.
  • Visit childcare facilities contracted with the CCAMPIS program to monitor children and review reports (as needed)
  • Service on College committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, and employee meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
