Position Description

DEFINITION:

The Part Time OSHA 10 Training Instructor will provide classroom instruction to E&WD students through lecture and demonstration on topics related to safety in general industry. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general supervision from Workforce Training Coordinator
  • Exercises no supervision

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in keeping with OSHA–approved requirements and procedures for the 10-hour General Industry training topics
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
  • Develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance lesson plans
  • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores
  • Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records according to program needs or accreditation requirements

Other Important Functions:

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Course requirements for OSHA 10 Certification
  • Principles and procedures of recordkeeping
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional administration in the area of assignment
  • Introductory information regarding OSHA for General Industry, including but not limited to:
    1. Walking and working surfaces, including fall protection
    2. Exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans and fire protection
    3. Electrical safety
    4. Personal protective equipment
    5. Hazard communication
    6. Hazardous materials & safety data sheets
    7. Machine guarding
    8. Lockout/tagout
    9. Bloodborne pathogens

 

 

Ability To:

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
    1. Making observations
    2. Reading and writing
    3. Communicating with others
    4. Operating assigned equipment
    5. Handling varied tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
    1. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
    2. Operating assigned equipment
    3. Handling varied tasks simultaneously 
    4. Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:
    1. Making sound decisions
    2. Responding to questions
    3. Demonstrating intellectual capabilities

 

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

Minimum Education/Training:

  • OSHA 10 Instructor Certificate
  • Completion of OSHA 30 Course
