Position Description
Job Summary:
The Receptionist is responsible for fulfilling daily activities in the main lobby of the Mooresville Campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greet and assist visitors/students
Answers general questions with general knowledge of Mitchell Community College and the Mooresville Campus
Responsible for space requests and room bookings for classes and meetings
Responsible for directing lobby traffic
Receive and direct incoming calls
Related Responsibilities:
Handle textbook requests as needed
perform clerical duties in support of campus programs and courses and the Deans office
Register and receive payments for Continuing Education students
Fill copier with paper
Close out cash and secure in safe
Perform additional duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience Requirements
Display the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
Proficient in the use of printers, copiers and fax machines
Possess basic computer literacy, including moderate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Must possess excellent customer service skills
Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of and commitment to open-access community college philosophy, diversity issues, and instructional technology
Surroundings / Environment:
Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements, with moderate noise.
Physical Effort:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain a stationary position for an extended period; move about the office, operate and position computers and files, as needed; and frequently communicate with others. The employee may occasionally move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Scheduling:
This is a part-time position, with flexible scheduling based on the needs of the office. Primary availability and work schedule include evening hours. Must be available to work occasionally on weekends and additional evenings, during peak periods.
