Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, education, social science, information technology, computational science, data science, data analytics, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university. At least two years of experience in strategic planning, grant writing, assessment, and working in an educational environment. At least two years of demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research, leading to actional insights and continuous improvement. At least two years of experience with software platforms facilitating strategic planning, assessment, and continuous improvement processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in business, education, social science, information technology, computational science, data science, data analytics, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university. At least two years of community college experience with project management experience and familiarity with data and visualization tools (Power BI, Excel, Tableau, etc.) to tell a story using quantitative and qualitative data. Experience with accrediting agencies, including serving as an accrediting liaison, focusing on enhancing student and institutional quality. Experience leading accreditation processes and/or initiatives for continuous improvement, meeting or exceeding accrediting standards. Experience working with Watermark’s Planning & Self-Study, Faculty Success, Curriculum Strategy, Course Evaluation & Surveys, and Student Success & Engagement.

Position Description

Job Summary The Director of Strategic Initiatives and Assessment is a key leadership role that propels the institution toward achieving its strategic objectives. This role is pivotal in merging strategic planning, institutional research, and assessment with continuous improvement efforts, blending visionary planning with the active pursuit of strategic initiatives and effective grant management. The Director fosters a supportive environment that prioritizes academic excellence, student success, and community engagement, enhancing the institution’s societal and economic impact within the community. Collaborating with the Director of Data Analysis and Research, the Director analyzes institutional data to support and advance campus-wide strategic goals. ** Salary will commensurate with experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead the development, execution, and management of strategic initiatives and grants, aligning them with the institution’s long-term vision and objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct institutional research, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, to support strategic initiatives, grants, and assessments. Propel the continuous improvement of instructional programs, student learning outcomes, and administrative services through rigorous assessment processes. Maintain and develop advanced databases and dashboards for administrative and instructional review, facilitating informed research and strategic planning. Champion grant identification, acquisition, and administration, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities; provide expertise in preparing compelling grant proposals. Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of accreditation and compliance reports. Manage the College’s planning, evaluation, and assessment processes, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and effectiveness. Support setting baseline data, developing metrics, and determining outcomes for strategic initiatives, administrative and instructional reviews, and grants. Create, update, and publish planning guidelines and assessment documents as necessary. Prepare reports for accreditation and compliance, ensuring timely submission and accuracy. Assist with all accreditation efforts and maintain files and archives for accreditation documents. Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to garner support for strategic initiatives. Provide professional development on assessment, accreditation, and grant writing, encouraging excellence and continuous improvement. Utilize statistical software to create and manage datasets, interpreting qualitative and quantitative date to inform strategic decisions. Champion the College's retention, progression, completion, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring social and economic success for all learners. Support the College's mission, vision, and core values by adhering to all policies, procedures, and guidelines. Related Responsibilities: Maintain the Institutional Effectiveness and Strategical Initiatives webpage. Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to compile and publish the Institutional Fact Book. Contribute to standing and ad hoc committees, councils, and focus groups. Pursue and participate in professional development activities each academic year, including required and recommended employee training offered by the College. Perform other duties as assigned. Perform complex tasks, prioritize multiple projects, manage interruptions, and demonstrate the ability to work independently without supervision. Comprehensive knowledge of the entire student experience, encompassing coaching, mentoring, academic/career advising, student/career services, and academic progression and completion. Practice high ethical standards and preserve confidentiality when dealing with sensitive data and information. Additional Information Surrounding/Environment: The Director of Strategic Initiatives and Assessments should be able to effectively work in an office or learning environment, usually indoors, away from the elements, with moderate noise. The Director works closely with others and works online or during irregular hours. The Director must preserve the working environment by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment. Physical Effort: Physical and marginal functions require maintaining physical conditions appropriate to the assigned duties and responsibilities, including standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting and carrying, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment, and extended exposure to computer screens. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds. The Director must make sound decisions using good judgment by demonstrating intellectual capabilities, working with numbers, and maintaining confidentiality where appropriate to evaluate courses, programs, administrative services, and grants effectiveness. Schedule: This position is a full-time, 37.5-hour/week position. The normal working hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday; however, the employee must be available to work a flexible schedule with day, evening, and weekend hours as job duties demand. Travel: Local travel may be required, including between campus locations. Out-of-state travel is limited but may be necessary for special training/conferences.
