Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent and a North Carolina Plumbing License is required with at least five years of work experience. Must be able to teach on the main campus of Wayne Community College. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, excellent oral and written communication skills, being a self-starter and team player, and the ability to work collaboratively with others are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical training or an electrical degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred. Familiarity with the National Center for Construction and Education Research (NCCER) curriculum and certifications is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish and experience working with a diverse population is preferred.
Position Description
The Plumbing Instructor is responsible for teaching a plumbing continuing education course. This course is designed to cover the basic installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components. Topics include the safe use of tools,implementation of standard practices, and installation/maintenance of piping, fittings, valves, appliances, and fixtures used in plumbed systems. The Instructor will develop, update, and implement curriculum and educational materials and methods used to advance learning in the classroom. The Instructor will organize and maintain class areas, including physical facilities, equipment, inventory, and materials in a clean, neat operating condition. Must maintain accurate class attendance records and submit reports and administrative paperwork in a timely manner.
