Minimum Qualifications
· A minimum of:
o A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Systems Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, or related discipline, from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education – or
o An Associate’s degree in Electrical Systems Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education, a North Carolina Electrical Contractor License or related credential, and five (5) or more years of full-time equivalent work experience in the discipline field – or
o Documentation of significant and extensive experience or contributions to the discipline demonstrated through: work experience, technical and performance competency, records of publications, or other qualifying credentials.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
· Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
Preferred Qualifications
· Minimum of the equivalent of one academic year of full-time teaching experience at the community college level
· Familiarity with a course management system such as Canvas
· Knowledge and/or experience with learning outcomes assessment
· Demonstrated innovation within the field of education and/or technology
· Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
· Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments

Job Description
The Electrical Systems Technology – Mechatronics Engineering Technology Instructor/Program Lead is a full-time, 12-month instructional staff position that assumes primary responsibility for curriculum and assessment of the Electrical Systems Technology and Mechatronics Engineering Technology programs of study within Applied Technical Programs.
This individual is academically qualified and holds degree credentials or other qualifications appropriate to the programs. They will be responsible for coordination of curriculum development and review. They will also ensure that the programs contain essential curricular components, have appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintain currency. Job responsibilities of the program lead are considered additional duties beyond instruction. Licenses and/or certifications used for credentialing purposes must be kept current by the employee, unless noted otherwise.
Job Duties
· A commitment to continuous learning through active participation in return-to-work initiatives, instructor externships, and related professional development/training opportunities.
· Create classroom activities and learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, including high school students, adult learners, and senior populations.
· Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
· Acts as chief advocate for the program and presents a positive image of the programs and the college to both internal and external customers
· Leads the recruitment effort for the programs and assures that promotional literature is current, accurate, and available
· Assures that all faculty members in the programs are assisting with student advising and providing current, accurate information
· Assists the Director in maintaining a roster of qualified adjunct faculty for the program
· Works with the Director in recruitment, orientation, and mentoring of adjunct faculty
· Performs classroom observations of adjunct faculty in the programs
· Makes recommendations to the Director and Dean of Applied Technical Programs for curriculum changes
· Leads program faculty in the area of outcomes and assessment as required for SACS‑COC accreditation
· Maintains and updates all master course syllabi specific to the program
· Maintains and updates all master course documentation specific to the program
· Maintains and updates all master class schedules specific to the program
· Manages annual audit and update of all Canvas master shells
· Creates and submits semester class schedules as directed by the Department Chair/Director/Dean
· Coordinates the selection of textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency
· Leads the advisory committee process, program reviews, and program improvement plans
· Assists the Director and Dean of Applied Technical Programs in other ways as needed
· Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the programs to meet the needs of a learning-centered college
· Stay current with developments in the discipline by earning additional industry-recognized credentials as assigned by the supervisor
· Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
· Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
· Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in high school and community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a corrections setting (Anson county)
· Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online
· Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation
· Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President
