Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline or a related teaching discipline
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Must have experience in the fundamentals of industrial controls, machining, electricity, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Must be able to read industrial schematics
  • Must have experience in troubleshooting industrial equipment typical to an industrial production environment

Language Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Recognized Credentials (ex. OSHA 10/30/MESH, CPT, CPT +).
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague and advising and registering students
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a community college setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and students. 
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the student experience to include coaching, mentoring, advising, student/career services, and progression, preferred
  • Understanding and commitment to the mission and principles of community colleges. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and students as well as other internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Commitment to using data to support informed decision-making processes. 
  • Proven ability to develop successful strategies for enrollment growth, student success and student retention.

Position Description

Faculty are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a minimum of 20-24 on -campus hours Monday through Friday (position may include day and/or evening work hours). In certain program areas and during certain periods, such as advising ad registration, Faculty may work more than the minimum on-campus hours. Focused on student success, Faculty support the colleges mission by facilitating student learning in and outside of the classroom through high-quality instruction, academic support, and informed advising.

Example of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Providing appropriate and effective instruction.
    1. Teaching classes per the College’s teaching load and formula in combinations including day, evening, weekend, off-campus and online as the College requires.
    2. Providing relevant learning opportunities that promote student engagement and retention. 
    3. Staying current in their field and in teaching methodology.
    4. Creating meaningful assessments and evaluating student work according to departmental standards.
    5. Marinating accurate student records, including course attendance to enhance retention and success.
    6. Being available to students during office or lab hours for assistance.
    7. Providing regular grade updates through Moodle gradebook
  • Providing accurate, informed advising.
  • Maintaining accessible office or lab hours.
  • Understanding College policies and procedures, degree requirements, and transfer agreements. 
  • Providing students with current information regarding career opportunities, as appropriate.
  • Being informed about College services and support for students.
  • Supports extracurricular activities by attendance and/or advisory role.
  • Manages inventory control including purchasing materials, supplies, equipment and tools
  • Recruiting students, including participation in open houses, College events, and recruitment fairs.
  • Engaging in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Building positive, effective relationships with internal and external partners. 
  • Participating in student club activities and events.
  • Assisting with accreditation/regulatory reports.
  • Assisting with live projects as relevant.
  • Maintains licensure /certifications and through professional development activities stays well-informed of advancements and changes within the field of Automotive Technology.
  • Serve on College Committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the College mission and initiatives

 
Permanent full-time faculty (who are not Department Heads or otherwise required to work 12 months) receive contracts for nine-month periods within a fiscal year and may be contracted on a month-to-month basis in summer per instructional needs.
