The Nurse Aide I instructor must have a current unencumbered North Carolina Registered Nurse license and have a minimum of two years of medical surgical nursing experience. The candidate must possess good general computer skills and have experience teaching adults. A valid North Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record sufficient to be insured under the Wayne Community College auto insurance policy is required. The Candidate must be approved by the Department of Health and Human Services to teach this curriculum.
An Associates’ or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with experience in long-term care, online teaching and supervising nurse aides is preferred. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred.
The instructor will provide effective instruction and evaluate the competency of each student through laboratory/skill practice and clinical evaluations while performing basic Nurse Aide I skills in compliance with appropriate state and national agencies. The candidate will travel to clinical sites as needed and will maintain all required academic, attendance, and student records. The instructor will teach the mandated curriculums utilizing the program guidelines and regulations and will perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Allied Health, Workforce Continuing Education Services.
