Minimum Qualifications
The Nurse Aide I Instructor must have a current unencumbered North Carolina Registered Nurse license and have a minimum of one year of long-term care nursing experience. The candidate must possess good general computer skills; meet the vaccination requirements of clinical sites and be willing to commit to a teaching schedule of 12 hours per week (day or evening). A valid North Carolina driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record sufficient to be insured under the Wayne Community College auto insurance policy is required. The Candidate must be approved by the Department of Health and Human Services to teach this curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a health-related field as well as experience teaching adults and nurse aides are preferred. Experience teaching classes online is preferred. Bilingual is preferred.
Position Description
The instructor will provide effective instruction and evaluate the competency of each student through laboratory/skill practice and clinical evaluations while performing basic Nurse Aide I skills in compliance with appropriate state and national agencies. The candidate will travel to clinical sites as needed and will maintain all required academic, attendance, and student records. The instructor will teach the mandated curriculums utilizing the program guidelines and regulations and will perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Allied Health or Associate Vice President for Workforce Continuing Education Services.
