Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with current unencumbered RN license to practice in NC (An Associate degree in Nursing and relevant work experience will be considered)
  • Minimum of 2 years (4000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States
  • Minimum of 1 year (2000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in a long-term care facility services in the United States demonstrated by: (a). working in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital, or (b). supervising or teaching students in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital
  • Creativity and openness to change
  • Computer skills (including MS Office 2007) and commitment to use of technology in instruction
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others in a team environment
  • Ability to provide leadership including but not limited to anticipating and responding to change
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, and weekend hours at multiple sites
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

This full-time position reports directly to the Associate Dean, School of Workforce and Continuing Education.  The position includes coordination and instruction in the traditional and hybrid learning environments for students in the non-credit (continuing education) nurse aide programs on the Davidson and Davie Campus. Duties include setting up classes, scheduling and clinical coordination, visiting classes throughout the semester, gathering required student information, maintaining instructional records, providing support to instructors as well as assisting students as needed.

  • Evaluating student(s) and instructor(s) progress and providing appropriate feedback.
  • Assisting in the recruitment and orientation of new instructors.
  • Coordinating clinical experiences including but not limited to scheduling experiences for students and instructors and visiting clinical sites.
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment relevant to educational and student needs.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of student clinical clearance process.
  • Working collaboratively with faculty, staff and clinical sites.

Fostering student success through:

  • Teaching the course content to align with the course and program level outcomes using the assessment measures defined by the College.
  • Cultivating the classroom environment in a way that maintains respect for diversity among students, both social and academic, and honors the focus on student learning and equity.
  • Ensuring that teaching strategies include active student engagement, timely and consistent feedback, and accurate up-to-date record-keeping (attendance, grades in Moodle, midterm, and final grade reporting, etc.).
  • Participating actively in completion initiatives.
  • Teaching assigned courses at any and/or all of DCCC's service locations using the delivery method needed (on-line, hybrid, face-to-face, video-conferencing, etc.).  Teaching times include morning/day, evening, or weekend hours.
  • Participating in discussions relevant to choosing textbooks and other instructional materials.
  • Identifying and providing supporting resources through innovative use of the learning environment and collaboration with support services on campus.
  • Obtaining and accurately reporting data needed to assess the College's efficacy in teaching and learning.
  • Engaging collaboratively with colleagues in assessing relevant course and program data, determining how courses and programs can be improved, implementing and evaluating resulting changes.
  • Developing course syllabi and providing appropriate documents for students.
