Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Nursing or higher
• Current, unencumbered NC license as Registered Nurse OR compact nursing license valid for practicing and teaching in NC
• Two years work experience as a Registered Nurse
• Meets at least ONE of the following: completion of a course in teaching adults, experience in teaching adults, or experience in supervising nurse aides
• Proficiency in all MS Office products.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Two years teaching Nursing Assistant classes
• Medication Aide Instructor
• American Heart Association BLS Instructor
• Community College teaching experience

Position Description

Job Description

The Nursing Aide Faculty is a full-time, 12-month position located on the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Program Director of Nurse Aide and Practical Nursing, the Nursing Aide Faculty provides direct instruction to Nursing Assistant students, provides all state-regulatory required instruction in accordance with SPCC faculty policy, and maintains all compliance-related documentation as may be required. A sign-on bonus will be included in the compensation package.

Job Duties

• Show commitment to providing quality customer service and an uncompromising commitment to student learning through the college’s mission, vision, values and the delivery of instruction
• Willingness to learn the continuing and community education concepts, processes and practices of the NC Community College System
• Identify problems, creating innovative solutions and managing projects
• Deal effectively, cooperatively and tactfully with students, business/industry, government and community representatives/citizens, faculty, staff, administrators
• Maintain accurate and appropriate student, instructor, and course, and program documentation
• Interact with clinical sites to ensure that policies and procedures specific to the sites are being followed
• Advise Director as to required supplies as needed for the programs
• Ensure that all forms necessary for placement of students on the NA Registry are completed and notarized in a timely manner
• Keep current with information and skills in teaching field
• Teach classes (credit and non-credit) in both counties each semester as needed
• Conduct research and surveys to determine current effectiveness and future needs; prepare reports on these
• Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed and duties require
• Assist in recruiting and registering students
• Work cooperatively with all directors and staff
• Take part in applicable skills training
• Pursue a development plan that provides for personal and professional growth through participation in professional and community activities
• Assist with the administration of training programs in accordance with South Piedmont Community College policies, internal audit procedures, rules, and regulations
• Assist Directors and Vice President in the development, delivery and maintenance of programs and strategic partnerships
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Nurse Aide and Practical Nursing and/or the Dean of Allied Health and Nursing
