Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- At least 3 years of full-time recent experience as a faculty member, in a board approved Nursing program.
- Must currently hold an active unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
- Possess a broad knowledge base in clinical nursing, and have significant experience teaching within a Nursing program at an accredited or Board of Nursing approved college, or university
KNOWLEGE / SKILLS:
Proficient with using Colleague and Moodle or similar platforms. Familiarity with Aviso, MS Office, Zoom, and Google applications. Applicant should have a solid understanding and experience with implementing requirements for state board of nursing, budget management, curriculum development, supervision and advising

Position Description
OPEN UNTIL FILLED
Successful incumbent will be an experienced faculty member with leadership experience in nursing education, who is responsible for the overall operation of the Nursing Program. The department head acts as the liaison between the College and the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON), and is instrumental in assuring the program meets or exceeds the standards of the NCBON. This position is responsible for assuring graduates of the program are well prepared, with NCLEX pass rates that are consistently above the average when compared to other NC community college nursing programs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Provides overall leadership and management of the Nursing program at the College which would include: continuously improving, developing and reviewing the curriculum while ensuring the creation of effective student learning outcomes and appropriate and relevant assessment methods, developing course schedules and faculty assignments in coordination with dean and nursing faculty, and assuring that faculty load hours are met each semester.
The Department Head of Nursing will assure that all students are supported throughout the program and will measure and prioritize retention and graduation rates. The Department Head is responsible for providing oversight of program budgets, all expenditures and inventory for supplies and equipment. Participation in the College hiring process and orientation is expected, as is providing timely evaluative feedback to faculty/staff regarding job performance via the College Continuous Improvement Process.
The Department Head is responsible for overseeing the supervision and mentoring of all full and part-time nursing faculty, to ensure academic quality and consistency is maintained, and will identify and promote professional development opportunities for self, faculty, and staff. The Department Head will stay current with all of the NC Board of Nursing requirements to ensure relevancy of ACC Nursing curriculum and compliance with NCBON compliance standards. The Department Head will maintain confidentiality and follow FERPA regulations while working with student records, and will assure all grades are submitted timely, in accordance with established College deadlines.
