Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in nursing and the demonstration of beginning a master’s degree program within two years of employment are required.  Must currently possess an unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. Healthcare Provider level CPR certification required. Prior to or within the first two years of employment, must document preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to assignment. Two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse required. Must have appropriate knowledge and clinical skills for teaching assignment and meet health requirements of the department.

Preferred Qualifications

A master’s degree in nursing is preferred.   

Position Description

The individual in this position is responsible for participating in the planning, implementation, evaluation and revision of the program curriculum. The teaching load for the full-time nursing instructor averages 18-21 student contact hours per week each semester. Five office hours per week are required.  Essential duties and functions include: Creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing and reviewing/revising curriculum courses, clinical instruction and simulation experiences, and maintaining positive working relationships with faculty and staff.
