Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose
Provide administrative services related to the Nursing program to faculty, staff and students.

Classification
Program Administrator, Staff, Exempt

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Oversee the day to day operation of the nursing department
• Oversee the operation of the RIBN program
• Evaluate all program faculty on a semester basis
• Examine and evaluate the nursing curriculum so as to ensure that it is compatible with NCBON standards.
• Make sure programs and courses are up-to-date, abreast of technology, and in compliance with state and national accreditation standards.
• Perform teaching observations on all faculty annually.
• Handle all student discipline and academic issues in accordance with established college and division policies.
• Act as primary advisor for all nursing and pre-nursing students.
• Initiate curriculum updates and revisions.
• Assist in course offerings and schedules.
• Assist in budget formation/control/expenditures for:
  o Travel (local &/or overnight)
  o Supplies
  o Equipment
  o Learning Resource Center (LRC) holdings
• Inventory equipment and supplies.
• Maintain advisory committee to include:
  o Recommend membership
  o Hold annual meetings
  o Maintain records
• Assist in recruiting and training qualified instructors.
• Complete or assist with program reports, including but not limited to, annual program review, outcomes assessment, and advanced planning document.
• Establish/maintain accreditation standards to include (if appropriate):
  o Self-study
  o Site visits
  o Annual reports
• Primary responsibility for all facets of the student/class selection process.
• Serve as liaison between Southwestern Community College and the clinical education sites and be responsible for the establishment of clinical sites and clinical faculty standards. Plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical facility.
• Hold minimum monthly meetings with nursing faculty
• Keep dean abreast of developments within the department including weekly or bi-monthly status meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical campus environment. Travel to clinical sites and training locations. May work evenings and weekends as necessary.
