  • Supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving: record management; customer service; use of Microsoft Office, Google Documents, Datatel and Adobe Acrobat software; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Position Description

OPEN UNTIL FILLEDThe Occupational Coordinator for Workforce Development Continuing Education is responsible for program development and course offerings management of a variety of non-credit programs. Courses of a comprehensive educational program that include skills training, industry, professional development, and personal enrichment programs generating FTEs for Alamance Community College. Service to the community will be a must as some classes will generate FTE while others will meet the needs or wants of the service area.

The position will help with market analysis, reporting, marketing and student engagement. The candidate should process the ability to promote nontraditional educational programs, to meet the needs of a multi-cultural community.

The candidate must understand and interpret ACC’s policies and procedures, State, and local regulations when applicable. Provide exceptional customer service to individuals inquiring about programs/course offerings either by phone, in person or e-mail. Assist with all other duties as assigned within program guidelines by the Director of Occupational Programs or their designee.

 

Example of Duties

Example of Duties include the following and perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.

  • Develop new, update, revise and implement occupational non-credit courses offerings (online & face to face) due to changing needs and requirements that will provide educational opportunities for students.
  • Maintain syllabi, course records, and submit reports relevant to the WDCE department.
  • Recruit, train and oversee part-time instructors in the preparation and submission of student registrations, assessment, attendance, and other course-related paperwork. 
  • Reviews and prepares semester course offering schedules, create and maintain the continuing education web pages, and other appropriate documents. 
  • Attend relevant meetings and trainings. Participate in on-going professional development activities
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with community business/organizations; maintain relationships with local Workforce Development Agencies, attending pertinent committee meetings, and conferences as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, supervisors, or other employees.
  • Maintain lines of communication between director, program coordinators, advisory committee members and curriculum staff and faculty.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule that involve nights and weekends where appropriate.
  • Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
  • Assist with computer & printer equipment and variety of software maintenance with ACC’s IT staff. Oversee the use of technology for program operations, such as video conferencing technology, presentation software.
  • Serve on college committees as directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Google Programs (Docs, Spreadsheet and Forms).
  • Work closely with the marketing department to promote to course in workforce development and to keep current the workforce development webpage.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse internal/external stakeholders and constituents within the ACC and Alamance County communities.
  • Must be a team player with good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population of customers.
