Minimum Qualifications

· Associate degree in a related field

· Experience in a business office setting (3+ years full time or its equivalent thereof)

· Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation

software applications (Microsoft Office suite)

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelors degree or higher in business or a related field

· Community college teaching or corporate training experience

· Familiarity with a course management system such as Canvas

· Bi-lingual

Job Description

Position Overview:

The Office Administration Instructor provides quality-learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations in the School of Arts and Sciences. This course is offered under continuing education.

Course Description:

This course introduces the skills and abilities needed in today’s office environment. Topics include effectively interacting with co-workers and the public, processing documentation, and performing functions typical of today’s offices. Upon completion, students should be able to display skills and decision-making abilities essential for functioning in the total office context. (Source: NCCCS Combined Course Library)

Job Duties

· Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to South Piedmont Community College as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services

· Develop learning strategies and curriculum that will promote successful teaching and learning in a learning-centered environment

· Facilitate learning through classroom activities, distance learning experiences, workforce development, and out-of-classroom activities

· Follow all college reporting and recordkeeping processes, such as attendance and grading

· Actively participate in continuous improvement planning through the assessment of learning outcomes at the course and program levels

· Select and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency

· Stay current with developments in the field of technology and learning theory

· Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered college

· Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college

· Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position

· Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college

· Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college

· Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), or in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties).

· Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online

· Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the Dean of Arts & Sciences, or the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs
