Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have at least two years associate's degree in Science, math and/or Computers Information systems
  • Knowledge of academic enrichment tutoring services/methods and best practices
  • Ability to communicate well with students, faculty, staff, and the general public
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a professional environment
  • Ability to function as an effective team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to provide discipline specific academic enrichment tutoring services in various subjects
  • Must be Microsoft Office and computer/technology literate and proficient
  • Must be responsible, dependable, honest, mature, patient, punctual, flexible, and sensitive to diversity
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Position Description

Under the supervision of the Center for Academic Excellence Coordinator the CAE part-time tutor/supplemental instructor will provide tutoring and supplement instruction to students in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs.  This individual will hone in on the particulars of English, Spanish, math, science and computer courses for curriculum programs that CTE students seem to struggle.  This service will give focus to non-tradition occupation (NTO) students, i.e., women in welding, men in nursing, ect.  Students will be referred by faculty to the CAE.  Students will be able to request and supplemental instruction from this individual.  This individual will also provide small group academic enrichment tutoring services to CTE students in Math, science, computer technology and other courses.  This individual will assist with the responsibility of keeping records and daily data entry of student progress of academic enrichment tutoring services and/or supplemental instruction.  The position is a part-time position up to 25 hours per week.
