- Associate Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a Human Services related field
- 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities Experience working with students with disabilities in higher education
- Basic understanding of HIPAA Laws and ADA Laws
Position Description
Description:
The Accessibility, Counseling, & Health Services Navigator supports student success by serving as a resource to DDCC students with disabilities and/or medical conditions including serving as a resource for students with disabilities on all campuses, providing one-on-one support to students with disabilities, and helping in the retention and completion process of students with disabilities. The Accessibility, Counseling, & Health Services Navigator reports to the Coordinator of Accessibility, Counseling, & Health Services and has the following responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Works directly with students with disabilities on a one-on-one basis to help ensure retention and completion. This includes assisting in the renewal of accommodations for current students and helping students with organization, time management, etc.
- Assists potential students with disabilities and/or medical conditions locate resources in the community that will help them obtain accommodations in the college setting, this includes funding resources for psychological evaluations.
- Follows up with students that have reached out to the office for assistance, yet are missing documentation in order to obtain accommodations in college.
- Works in collaboration with the Learning Commons Testing Center with testing-based accommodations and implementation of those accommodations for students with disabilities and/or medical conditions. This may include proctoring tests and/or reading text aloud for students.
- Maintains accurate and current records on all students served.
- Assists with providing professional development related to accessibility services to faculty, staff, and students
- Plays a primary role in developing Academic Advising Support Plans for students to use during their academic advising sessions
- Collects data and other information to analyze needs and evaluate programs for annual program reviews.
- Works collaboratively with college departments/divisions as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
