Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. Current Certification as a certified medical assistant. Two years of relevant work experience as a medical assistant with phlebotomy experience; Two years of relevant as a clinical coordinator in healthcare; and, Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with American Heart Association (AHA).

Excellent computer skills, including database, spreadsheet and word processing applications.

RCC requires the use of a Learning Management System [LMS] to facilitate instruction regardless of the mode of instruction. RCC's LMS is Moodle 3.10. Instructional staff and faculty must demonstrate LMS readiness or complete a self-paced RCC Learning Management System [LMS] training without compensation.

Excellent time-management and organizational skills.

Certified as a medical assistant. (CCMA)

Preferred Qualifications

Associate of Applied Science Health Science Degree; Certified medical assistant (CCMA); two years of relevant as a clinical coordinator in healthcare; certified in AHA cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Moodle   experience.

Position Description

The Allied Health Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for clinical site visits for all allied health programs to include medical assisting and phlebotomy. The individual must coordinate all clinical site visits and be willing to mediate between students and clinical sites.

Must have ability to work evening hours, Saturdays (when needed), and day or evening.

This position reports to the Program Coordinator of Health Sciences.

  1. Maintains regular ongoing communication relevant to clinical activities of phlebotomy and medical assisting students, as well as other allied health programs when needed.
  2. Evaluates student readiness for clinicals including review for completeness of files (physical exams, CPR, criminal background checks, and immunization/titers, and any other requirements of the clinical agency);
  3. Organizes and assess the orientation each semester for clinical/lab instructors.
  4. Collaborates with course/clinical instructors on make-up clinical assignments.
  5. Assist faculty with skills testing as needed.
  6. Provides lab assistance to students for practice and remediation.
  7. Assists other faculty with lab activities by preparing lab areas with necessary equipment set up and supplies for scheduled activities.
  8. Aides assistance to students during clinical rotation.
  9. Refers students to other college staff when necessary.
  10. Coordinates activities, clinical performance, and reports for evaluation of students in clinical rotation.
  11. Conducts student conferences with Health Sciences Coordinator on a as needed basis in relation to progress  in clinical activities.
  12. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental student policies.
  13. Supervises and evaluates clinical performance (facilitates at least one clinical group per semester).
  14. Completes and submits institutional reports on a timely basis.
  15. Provides input and participates in the College's Planning Process.
  16. Recruits students and implements retention strategies.
  17. Serves as liaison between college, student, public, community and business/industry in area of professional expertise.
  18. Continuously analyzes and evaluates clinical evaluations to improve and evaluation of student progress
  19. Aids in implementing the College's Program Review process and recommendations.
  20. Promotes a positive image of the college.
  21. Engages in a program of professional development and community service.
  22. Acquires computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position.
  23. Assists with equipment and software maintenance.
  24. Maintains security of personal computer access.
  25. Performs other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
