Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED. Current Certification as a certified medical assistant. Two years of relevant work experience as a medical assistant with phlebotomy experience; Two years of relevant as a clinical coordinator in healthcare; and, Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certified as a medical assistant

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate of Applied Science Health Science Degree; Certified medical assistant (CCMA); two years of relevant as a clinical coordinator in healthcare; certified in AHA cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Position Description

This part-time coordinator's position will be responsible for clinical site visits for all allied health programs to include medical assisting and phlebotomy. The individual must coordinate all clinical site visits and be willing to mediate between students and clinical sites.

Must have ability to work day and evening hours, Saturdays (when needed). 

The position reports to the Health Science Coordinator.

  1. Assists and reports directly to the Health Sciences Coordinator, and maintains regular ongoing communication relevant to clinical activities of phlebotomy and medical assisting students.
  2. Identifies and formulates clinical contracts with all clinical facilities;
  3. Evaluates student readiness for clinicals including review for completeness of files (physical exams, CPR, criminal background checks, and immunization/titers, and any other requirements of the clinical agency);
  4. Organizes and assess the orientation each semester for clinical/lab instructors;
  5. Collaborates with Department Head and course/clinical instructors on make-up clinical assignments;
  6. Assist faculty with skills testing as needed;
  7. Monitors and submits needed equipment and supply requests;
  8. Schedules and provides lab assistance to students for practice and remediation;
  9. Assists other faculty with lab activities by preparing lab areas with necessary equipment set up and supplies for scheduled activities;
  10. Aides assistance to students during clinical rotation;
  11. Refers students to other college staff when necessary;
  12. Coordinates activities, clinical performance, and reports for evaluation of students in clinical rotation.
  13. Conducts student conferences on a as needed basis in relation to progress in clinical activities;
  14. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental student policies;
  15. Supervises and evaluates clinical performance (facilitates at least one clinical group per semester);
  16. Completes and submits institutional reports on a timely basis;
  17. Provides input and participates in the College's Planning Process;
  18. Maintains required office hours each week;
  19. Recruits students and implements retention strategies;
  20. Participates/assists with coordination of specific program/course management;
  21. Serves as liaison between college, student, public, community and business/industry in area of professional expertise;
  22. Continuously analyzes and evaluates clinical evaluations to improve and evaluation of student progress;
  23. Provides students and college with written course expectations as defined by the college including general course information, course objectives, methods used in evaluation of students, grading policy, attendance policy, textbooks, etc.
  24. Aids in implementing the College's Program Review process and recommendations.
  25. Promotes a positive image of the college;
  26. Engages in a program of professional development and community service;
  27. Serves on college committees;
  28. Acquires computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position;
  29. Assists with equipment and software maintenance;
  30. Maintains security of personal computer access;
  31. Performs other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
