- Must have completed at least one semester at a college or earned a two-year associate's degree in Art, Science or Computers Information Systems.

- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, English, Biology, Science or Computer, and distance education experience. Must have excellent computers skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.). Excellence English, reading, math, oral, writing and communication skills or a combination thereof. Must be a team player who is committed to the community college "open door" philosophy. Work flexible hours. Provide academic transcript. Tutor must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have an A or B grade in the desired courses. Model appropriate and professional behavior at all times. Must be responsible, dependable, honest, mature, patient, and punctual. Sensitive to diverse of students and cultures. Knowledgeable of academic enrichment tutoring services/methods and best practices. Ability to communicate well with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a professional environment. Ability to function as an effective team member. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to provide discipline specific academic enrichment tutoring services in various subjects. Must be Microsoft Office and computer/technology literate and proficient. Complete other duties as assigned.
Position Description
Under the supervision of the Center for Academic Excellence Coordinator, the CAE part time Peer and Professional Tutor will provide tutoring and supplemental instruction to students in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and college transfer programs. This individual will hone in on the particulars of Biology, English, Spanish, math, psychology, science, computers and other courses for curriculum programs.
This Learner Support Services position will give focus to traditional and non-traditional occupation (NTO) students, (i.e., women in welding, men in nursing, etc.). Faculty will refer students to the CAE. The part-time peer or professional tutor will plan, organize and tutor various courses as assigned to ensure positive student learning outcomes. Tutor will provide pedagogy consistent with curriculum learning outcomes and the mission and vision of the College. Assist with maintaining necessary attendance records and submits administrative documents and reports in a timely manner. Administers periodic learning assessments and provides timely feedback to students. Prepares and revises lessons/learning plans. Serves as a liaison for student/faculty. Participates in on-going professional development activities and meetings. Assist with advocating and promoting communication and unity among faculty, student, and tutor collaboration. Complete student performance evaluations. Assist with updating marketing materials. Assist with conducting recruitment initiatives. Provide individual and small group academic enrichment tutoring services and study skills to students. This individual will assist with the responsibility of keeping records and daily data entry of student progress of academic enrichment tutoring services and/or supplemental instruction. The position is a part time position up to 10-20 hours per week.
