Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution 
• Ability to teach basic mathematics, reading, and writing 
• Strong oral and written communication skills 
• Familiarity with MS Office 
• Ability to work effectively and collegially with others in a team environment 
• Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college 
• Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:  
-    Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action 
-    Collaborating and facilitating
-    Creating and innovating 
-    Anticipating and responding to change 
-    Providing vision and leadership 
-    Assessment of student learning

Position Description

The College and Career Readiness Instructor reports to the Program Director or Coordinator.  The Instructor has the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain professionalism and continually build knowledge and skills
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively
  • Maintain and submit accurate records in a timely manner
  • Follow College and College and Career Readiness policies and procedures
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and methodologies to produce engaging and relevant learning environments
  • Create a learning environment that motivates, recognizes achievement, and produces a sense of community
  • Utilize resources appropriately to promote student learning
  • Demonstrates awareness of student needs and provides direction in a timely manner
  • Use informal assessments regularly to provide students with timely feedback
  • Develops relationships and rapport with students that promotes student success
  • Possess general knowledge of math and science
  • Ability to supervise online students, maintain email communication with each enrolled online student
  • Performs other duties and task that align with the mission of the college
