Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business Administration or related field and four years of experience; certification in Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP); or related certification.
  • Must be experienced in Emergency Management discipline including collaboration with community leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an educational environment.
  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 courses.
  • Experience managing emergency management within an organization; knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of emergency management, disaster recovery, information technology, business continuity plans, business interruption and business operations best practices, principles and strategies.
  • Applied knowledge of operational processes and industry best practices of risk and assessment.

The Part-Time Emergency Response Coordinator will lead Davidson-Davie Community College’s enterprise-wide emergency management efforts working collaboratively across the college to develop and maintain emergency management planning.  The focus of this position will involve strategic skills, designing required programs and practices, as well as tactical, working on the ground implementation. The Coordinator will be responsible for establishing and implementing emergency preparedness, response and disaster recovery processes and procedures. The Coordinator will also provide assistance to areas of the college as needed.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of a college-wide, comprehensive all-hazards emergency management program to prepare and direct the actions of the college community in the event of an emergency.
  • Lead a coordinated emergency management (EM) program in alignment with best practices and industry-wide standards.
  • Establish a framework and methodology for the development, implementation, and maintenance of a college-wide, comprehensive all-hazards emergency management program to prepare and direct the actions of the college community in the event of an emergency.
  • Conduct assessments, reviews, and self-inspections. Analyze and interpret results, recommend appropriate corrective actions, communicate results, and follow up on issues or concerns until completion.
  • Drive and deliver effective emergency management strategies to support, develop, and maintain Davidson-Davie Community College’s crisis management policies, validation exercises, procedures, and emergency operations activities ensuring adherence to the emergency management goals of protecting life, health, and safety; securing and protecting facilities property and equipment from loss; maintaining essential academic and business services and operations; providing for restoration of services, functions, and facilities as timely as possible; continuously assessing the effectiveness of the policies, procedures, activities and organizational structure, and provide feedback for continuous improvements.
  • Outline operating procedures to be used in response to disasters or emergencies, such as hurricanes, nuclear accidents, and terrorist attacks.
  • Prepare and oversee the Emergency Response Plan and provide assistance with the College’s Annual Security Report; Research state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines regarding the implementation of homeland security programs, and ensure College compliance with such regulations.
  • Responsible for Clery Act compliance and notifications. The position will collaborate with Security and other departments as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the management preparation for crisis and support crisis response efforts; Responsible for serving in the Emergency Operations Command Center and managing operations as assigned by the Vice President, Financial & Administrative Services, or other leadership.
  • Maintain awareness and updated training programs on emergency preparedness and protocols for all areas of the college and educate staff, students and faculty. Collaborate with College Security Services in bringing awareness to all stakeholders annually.
  • Establish a coordinated program for tests and exercises, using a building block approach to build staff, students, and faculty knowledge and confidence.
  • Collaborate with College Security Services and Community Relations in developing effective and efficient procedures for emergency communication.
  • Routinely communicate emergency management preparedness measures to all constituents of the college community; Keep informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key partners across business units and local fire, law enforcement, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers, and local emergency management groups. Serve as a contact with federal, state, and local emergency response groups.
  • Responsible for working within the assigned budget.
  • Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Perform other duties as assigned that achieve the mission and initiatives of the college
