Minimum Qualifications

  •  Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with current unencumbered license to practice in NC
  • Minimum of 2 years (4000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States
  • Minimum of 1 year (2000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in a long-term care facility services in the United States demonstrated by: (a). working in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital, or (b). supervising or teaching students in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital
  • Creativity and openness to change
  • Computer skills (including MS Office 2007) and commitment to use of technology in instruction
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others in a team environment
  • Ability to provide leadership including but not limited to anticipating and responding to change
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, and weekend hours at multiple sites
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

Responsibilities

The Coordinator, for Nursing Aide, School of Workforce Development and Continuing Education position is responsible for the Nursing Aide Continuing Education programs located on the Davidson and Davie Campus of Davidson County Community College. Duties include setting up classes, scheduling and clinical coordination, visiting classes throughout the semester, gathering required student information, maintaining instructional records, providing support to instructors as well as assisting students as needed. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean, School of Workforce Development and Continuing Education. 

  • Promotes College mission, values, and vision
  • Assists the Program Director with the administration of courses in classroom, lab and/or practical settings to meet program needs including day, evening, weekend, and online courses
  • Evaluates student(s) and instructor(s) progress and provides appropriate feedback
  • Develops course syllabi and instructional materials and provides appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
  • Explores, assesses, and implements appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Assists Program Director in developing, organizing, implementing, and administering a program(s) of continuing education (non-credit) courses to provide educational opportunities in his/her particular area of responsibility
  • Assists in the recruitment and orientation of new instructors to include a review of Continuing Education Instruction Manual and requirements for record keeping
  • Assists in scheduling and set up of classes, scheduling and clinical coordination to include but not limited to scheduling of students and instructors to clinical sites
  • Participates in activities necessary to maintain program compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Assists in the evaluation of courses and programs
  • Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
  • Works collaboratively with faculty, staff and external agencies
  • Attends appropriate College and School meetings
  • Assists in student recruitment, orientation and retention
  • Maintains appropriate office hours and accessibility for students, faculty and staff
  • Maintains supplies and equipment relevant to educational and student needs
  • Participates in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills and to remain current with knowledge, changes, and new technology in the Nurse Aide field
  • Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College
