Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Work experience, including use of effective customer service skills
  • Ability to accurately receive information/data in an organized manner
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in the use of computers and technology to provide information and services
  • Ability to work interdependently in a close team environment
  • Understanding of and commitment to College purpose, values, and vision
  • Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
       - Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action
       - Collaborating and facilitating
       - Creating and innovating
       - Anticipating and responding to change
       - Providing vision and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of at least one year of college courses
  • Cashier experience 

Position Description

SUMMARY:

The Part-time Food Service Staff provides cashiering and support services for the College restaurant efforts, promoting a collaborative, customer- and student-focused food service operation.  Hours for this position will vary, but will total approximately 20-25 hours per week, primarily in the daytime in the Davidson campus.  This support staff position reports to the Manager, Food Service Operations and has the following specific responsibilities:
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes food service orders via cash register and telephone
  • Responds to inquiries by students, faculty, and staff
  • Answers telephone calls and greeting all individuals seeking assistance in the College restaurant
  • Assists with kitchen duties as determined by your supervisor
  • Maintains cleanliness of kitchen equipment and food service area
  • Works collaboratively with food services staff to develop cross-training opportunities
  • Attends appropriate division and College meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the purpose and initiatives of the College

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED

ADA SUMMARY:

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability process information and exercise good judgment, ease of mobility within the restaurant setting and other areas of campus, effective use of all forms of communication including use of cash register, keyboard and computer, the ability to perform restaurant duties, move and clean small equipment, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and potential travel to other campus locations.
