Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree is minimum requirement.  Must be certified with Pearson Vue Testing Service or be eligible to obtain certification.

Preferred Qualifications

GED practice and post testing experience. Preference given for certified CASAS training.

Position Description

 

 PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The GED Examiner is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all related High School Equivalency program management activities and assessment administration related to placement and progression.

 

** This is a PT Temporary Staff position that will work up to 28 hours per week through the 2021 spring semester.  Evaluation will be made at the end of the semester for any extension of contract duties which are dependent on budget and department need.  **

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Testing

If not already certified, complete GED examiner certification with Pearson Vue Testing Service.

 

Recommend, implement, and enforce policies and procedures necessary to maintain the highest standards of instruction and assessment.

 

Oversee a testing program that ensures the integrity of the GED Tests and their administration.

 

Plan, organize, and conduct regularly scheduled GED Practice Tests and Official Tests. 

 

Maintain communications throughout the program by utilization of meetings, written communications, and other appropriate means of communication.

 

Maintain records according to college, state and national policy and procedure, checking for the accuracy and correctness of all data.

 

Ensure that GED examinations are administered in full compliance with the requirements and standards stipulated by appropriate external agencies, and report on all changes in standards and policy that affect the program.

 

Maintain a weekly work schedule designed to ensure proper supervision of program activities and regular attention to the administrative requirements of the position.

 

Maintain professional skills and subject expertise through continual program specific training and professional development.

 

Develop and maintain supportive relations with all other branches of the department, division, College, NCCCS, and GED Testing Service, as well as other organizations in the community which are pertinent to the program.

 

Spends adequate time preparing for each testing session; Familiarizes himself/herself with available materials; Attends in-service workshops regularly and maintains communication with campus office (i.e. checks college email daily and mailbox weekly).

 

Record Keeping:  Maintains accurate records (testing forms, schedules, etc.); submits accurate end of month reports; completes end-of-term reports promptly within the deadlines given; maintains confidentiality of student records: and maintains security of all tests and answer keys.

 

Professionalism: Displays professional attitude and appearance within the guidelines of the Student and Workforce Development Division; keeps current on instructional technology and methods; develops an active interest in students, not only in the area of academic progress, but also in social and economic conditions that may affect Haywood Community College; supports and encourages college-sponsored activities.
