Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited institution required.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Teaching Experience required (either teaching adults or public school).
  • Strong computer literacy skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to use video teleconferencing software including, but not limited to, Zoom required.
  • Understanding of NC High School graduation requirements preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Some walking, standing, and bending required, with the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
  • Year round teaching with breaks in mid-December/early January and mid-June/early July

Position Description

SUMMARY

OPEN UNTIL FILLED - Review of applications will begin 8/11/21

Part-Time AHS instructors to work up to 18 hours/week.  Instructors will facilitate a variety of subjects and complete associated paperwork to ensure compliance with state and federal policies and/or grant regulations.   Must be able to teach day or evening classes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Monitor and report student progress and maintain current class rosters.
  2. Set up appropriate classes for students in online software package.
  3. Advise and mentor students.
  4. Maintain contact with students via phone and/or email.
  5. Identify student access barriers and make appropriate referrals.
  6. Maintain up to date knowledge within the teaching field, and of software used for class delivery.
  7. Maintain student records of attendance and progress.
  8. Participate in departmental and divisional orientation and training sessions.
