Minimum Qualifications
A diploma in Welding Technology with 3 years of welding experience and some teaching experience. AWS certifications credentials. Good communication skills is a necessity. Must be able to communicate with students from all age groups and diversities as this is an essential part of our program.
Preferred Qualifications
5-10 years of welding experience and 3-5 years of teaching experience AWS certifications; CWE and CWI credentials.
Position Description
JOB SUMMARY
Provide quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations. Faculty are responsible for the quality of the educational program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Teaches classes and labs including Cutting Processes, MIG, TIG, & Stick welding: instruct students on the use of shop equipment. Working knowledge of welding symbols and specifications. Follow the course description set forth in the common course library, integrating when appropriate: Maintain order of classrooms and labs. Ensure proper storage of materials and equipment at the end of each lab session. Implement active learning techniques and use a variety of learner- centered instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course. Such activities may include, but are not limited to: Cooperative learning Experiential learning Focus on student learning outcomes taking into account the needs and abilities of the students and the mission of the college. Be supportive of students’ educational goals and make reasonable provisions to accommodate their individual differences while maintaining the academic integrity of the college. Perform other assignments, consistent with his/her professional abilities, as assigned by the program or department chair or administration in carrying out the mission of the institution. These duties include, but are not limited to the following: Work with students, peers, and administrative and support staff in a professional manner that models constructive problem-solving (flexibility, preparation for required tasks); ethical conduct (respect and courtesy, consistency, fairness); organization (proper attire, attendance, decorum); and adherence to college policies and procedures... Teach day or evening classes as required with the possibility of weekend classes.
