Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a nationally accredited institution required. 

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Teaching Experience required (either teaching adults or public school)
  • Strong computer literacy skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office required
  •  Ability to use video teleconferencing software including, but not limited to, Zoom required

Position Description

UMMARY

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Part-Time ESL instructors to work up to 18 hours/week.  Instructors will teach ESL classes (adult basic education and HSE preparation) and complete associated paperwork to ensure compliance with state and federal policies and/or grant regulations.  Must be able to teach day or evening classes at multiple instruction sites through multiple modes as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Conduct assigned classes of instruction in the best manner to achieve student learning; present information, ideas, and skills in ways which are appropriate to a variety of learning styles and which show sensitivity to a diverse student population.
  2.  Monitor and report student progress and maintain current class rosters.
  3. Advise and mentor students.
  4. Maintain contact with students via phone and/or email.
  5. Identify student access barriers and make appropriate referrals.
  6.  Maintain up to date knowledge within the teaching field, and of software used for class delivery.
  7.  Maintain student records of attendance and progress.
  8.  Participate in departmental and divisional orientation and training sessions.
