Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma Experience at a minimum journey or technician level in their area of expertise OR

A minimum of three years’ experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program AND

Five years of related work experience in Construction Skilled Trades  

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in a construction skilled trade 5-8 years of related work experience

Certified Master Craftsman or Journey Worker  

Position Description

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned NCCER Introduction to Construction Skilled Trades- CORE Curriculum.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.  

*Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner. 

*Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance. 

*Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.

*Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment. 

*Grades and returns student work in a timely manner. 

*Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course. 

*Ensures classroom materials and equipment are used to support the goals of the course. 

Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.

Remains up to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology. 

Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Thorough knowledge of hand and power tools and specific safety requirements when working with these tools 

Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning 

Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others 

Be innovative, creative, and motivated

Ability to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently 

Ability to interact, teach and communicate with a diverse population of students Excellent organizational skills

Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and online learning resources such as Microsoft Teams 

Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision 

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Demonstrates resourcefulness
