Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution
  • Ability to work nights and week-ends
  • Experience in International Education, Student Services or related area
  • Skill in the use of computers, MS Office and commitment to use of technology
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others
  • Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
    • Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action
    • Collaborating and facilitating
    • Creating and innovating
    • Anticipating and responding to change
    • Providing vision and leadership
    • Assessment of student learning
    • Engagement and assessment of successful student retention models

Position Description

SUMMARY:

The Part-time International Education Assistant provides support and assistance in the International Education Center.  The International Education Assistant reports to the Director, International Education and has the following responsibilities:
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes College mission, values, and vision
  • Serve as a receptionist in the International Education Center.
  • Provide information to students regarding study abroad programs, the Scholars of Global Distinction program, passport events, the International Club, and cultural excursions.
  • Update the Global Scholar database, spreadsheet, and email account as new scholars apply.
  • Post to social media accounts on a regular basis.
  • Assist with communication between friendship families and student 'buddies'
  • Work with the Director, International Education, to facilitate events on campus and off campus.
  • Assist international students with acclimating to new environment and culture – (banking, shopping, medical, post office)
  • Coordinate transportation (pick-up and drop-off) for international students during breaks
  • Coordinate transportation for campus events, cultural programming activities and internships
  • Arrange for service learning opportunities for International students.

ADA SUMMARY:

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment working independently and analyzing problems.    Other requirements include ease of mobility in classroom/lab settings, carrying supplies and other instructional materials, ability to move, climb, or crawl under equipment, use of keyboard and computer, effective use of all forms of communication (written, oral, visual, auditory), and the ability to perform general office duties and travel to other campus locations.

SALARY RANGE:
$10.00 -$11.00 per hour based on candidate's experience, education, and the state budget
