Minimum Qualifications

  • Some college coursework
  • North Carolina CDL-A license
  • Five years of experience as medium and heavy duty truck driver
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and assist/direct trailer set-up
  • Familiarity with safety requirements
  • Good driving record
  • Experience in keeping accurate detailed records
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others in a team environment
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college
  • Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
  • Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action
  • Collaborating and facilitating

Position Description

SUMMARY:

The Part-time Mobile Training Lab Driver, Advanced Manufacturing works collaboratively with the School of Business, Engineering, and Technical Studies Advanced Manufacturing Programs to drive to/from events, service locations, and campuses in a safe and timely manner. The driver will set-up and will provide supervision of the trailer/lab as needed.  This position reports to the Associate Dean, School of Business, Engineering, and Technical Studies. The Mobile Training Lab Driver, Advanced Manufacturing has the following responsibilities:
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with staff and faculty to arrange departure times.
  • Report 30 minutes prior to departure from the College for all trip
  • Adhere to pre-trip and post-trip inspections and all other safety rules and regulations required under CDL-A to operate a truck and trailer combination of 26,000 lbs.
  • Report maintenance issues requiring repair to the maintenance department
  • Carry a valid CDL-A license at all times during trips
  • Acquire directions to destination and returning to campus prior to leaving
  • Contact roadside service in the event of a mechanical breakdown
  • Contact Associate Dean, School of Business, Engineering, and Technical Studies prior to or during travel in bad weather
  • Record all required trip information on the College travel log at the end of each trip
  • Ensure the truck and mobile lab are securely locked and keys returned at the end of each trip
  • Maintain travel log for pay
  • Attends appropriate College meetings
  • Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College

ADA SUMMARY:

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability process information and exercise good judgment, ability to perform pre-trip bus inspections, drive bus to athletic locations, ease of mobility within office setting and other areas of campus, effective use of all forms of communication including use of keyboard and computer.
