Position Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree in related field of study
  • Customer service experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Two years of relevant work experience with academic advising, student services, student affairs, career development, counseling, social work or related case management field
  • Two years of customer service experience
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Work experience with orientation for students or onboarding
  • Work experience providing customer service in a higher education environment

Position Description

The Part-Time Onboarding Navigator provides onboarding support for all new curriculum students as a part of the New Student Orientation process. Our students have several steps prior to enrolling in classes and this position is dedicated to helping our students get through those steps as quickly and efficiently as possible. This is a 20-hour grant-funded, time-limited position through August 30, 2023 and reports to the Director of Academic Advising. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Provides guidance to students and answers questions as they are going through the onboarding process
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for New Student Orientation and related processes
  • Manages data entry, email management, list management, and tracking of students
  • Tracks and follows up with students that have not completed New Student Orientation
  • Facilitates communication with incoming students, parents, and college offices, regarding the orientation program and related issues.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Academic Advising:
    • Assists with the development of New Student Orientation materials
    • Develops and assists with training sessions related to New Student Orientation
    • Plans New Student Orientation activities and events
    • Contributes to the process of decision-making regarding Orientation
    • Assists in the assessment of the New Student Orientation program, processes, and events
  • Works some evening and weekends and may travel to the Davie Campus to support the needs of our students
  • Maintains high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College
  • Performs other duties as assigned which support the purpose and initiatives of the College
