Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in sports information, communication, journalism, media production, or related field. Excellent communication and organizational skills; must posses good writing and editing ability; knowledge of AP style; proficiency in Desktop Publishing, Photoshop, Word and StatCrew and other statistical software; basic knowledge of various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc). A valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Position Description

Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this part-time position. Qualified candidates will possess excellent communication and computer skills, demonstrate evidence of a career that includes flexibility and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives; a willingness to take risks, and willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth. The Sports Information Specialist is a part-time staff position reporting to the Director of Athletics at Fayetteville Technical Community College.


Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assisting the Athletics Information staff with coverage of all sports; serving as the primary media contact with media and FTCC social media personnel.

Producing online team record books/media guides, game notes, news releases related to each game and site.

Compiling statistics; generating feature content photo/video/stories and other unique coverage for the FTCC Athletic Program.

Establish and maintain positive relations with media through strong interpersonal communication skills.

Assist in facilitating social media in line with department goals.

Other duties as assigned.
